Custom Pool Construction

Our process begins with a scheduled meeting in either our presentation centre or on-site, at your home. This is our opportunity to get to know you, get a sense of what you’re looking for, and discuss budgets.

Rick heads up our sales division. He will lead you through the Pool Craft experience. Together you will review;

• Quoting & the permit process

Rick has navigated over 600 sales and has been part of Pool Craft for over 10 years. His experience, spatial awareness, and material knowledge makes him an asset when navigating this stage of the process.

All of our projects start with a design; this is the blueprint for your space. Visually a 3D design captures the desired elements in a layout that feels real. Our designer will work with your wish list and incorporate the existing landscape, the natural conditions of the property and the available space to create an optimal plan.

City by-laws need to be considered, as well as existing trees, structures and access. We will layer this with your property survey to ensure legal boundaries, and easements are considered.

Although some properties have restrictions that may be unknown at the time of the initial design consult, the last thing you want is to fall in love with an idea and plan, only to find out it is not possible in your space. This blueprint is crucial to keep expectations and communication clear and on point.

• Used for permit applications

There is typically some back and forth on the design to ensure it aligns with budgets and preferences. There are a lot of decisions that get made/proposed at this stage in the process.

Depending on the scope of your project, you may also need to invest in a structural design.

Once the design has reached a stage where the job can be quoted, we’ll sit down with you in our design center to review it.

This is a very thorough meeting with lots of information exchanged. The in-depth quote will cover all the elements in your project including site prep, access fees, trenching, basic materials, your landscaping, your carpentry if any, gas & electrical,  and site restoration. If there are additional elements from sub contractors, managed by our team, those will be included also.

Tip: Create a prioritized wish list for the ultimate backyard plan. The initial plan that may include everything on your list may be outside your budget, but you can always build your backyard in multiple phases.

Once the design has been signed off on, and the quote reaches contract status, permit drawings will then be completed and the permit process will begin.

The scope of the project, the municipal bylaws, and any existing elements in your yard like trees or garages will determine the number of permits required.  For example, if large trees requiring a TPZ are present, that permit will be issued first. Followed by the pool permit, the structure permit (for decks and buildings) as well as any minor variance applications if needed. Timelines vary by municipality.

Material selection is always an exciting phase in the process!

Your project managers will sit down with you to ensure all your material selections are made, and any upgrades or changes are captured.

Chris Kouressis is the manager on the pool side, Jon Steele on the landscape side, and Chris Boake on carpentry.

Once permits have been approved and materials/profiles are selected, we are now ready to start the build/construction process

• First step is to layout the backyard and confirm that there are no last minute changes
• Second step is pool dig and pool construction

Once the pool is complete, the landscape and carpentry portion of the project takes place

Prior to the installation of the liner, Pool Craft will arrange for final inspection with the municipality.

After the inspection has passed – the pool liner is then installed and you are ready to enjoy your pool!

Your project is complete, now it’s time to learn how to use and enjoy your pool

Pool Craft will arrange a pool tutorial (pool school) and teach you the ins and outs of pool ownership

When  your project is complete and it’s time to enjoy the finished product you will be handed over to our Service Team.  Pool Craft service technicians, water chemistry specialists, and scheduling experts will guide you through pool ownership with ease. Our Service managers have been with us for over 10 years and they know our projects inside and out.
