With proper care, vinyl liners can last many years. With enough time, however, they begin to fade in colour and break down.

Pool Craft specializes in vinyl installation and can install a new liner for you in a variety of patterns and colours. This is a very technical process that you should make sure to hire a professional to manage.

From the beginning to the end, Pool Craft will ensure all aspects of replacing your liner are covered. Starting with measuring the pool to installing the new liner and filling the pool back up, all of these steps are performed by our experienced liner experts.

Is your equipment making loud noises and running inefficiently?

Over time, it’s normal for pool parts to begin to wear down. How do you know when it’s time to replace your equipment and when is the best time to do this?

If you’re experiencing any of the following:

  1. Strange noises from the pump
  2. Leaks at the equipment pad that require more then a new o-ring or seal
  3. Frequent breakdowns after repairs
  4. Continual loss of suction or prime
  5. Power issues or equipment shuts off frequently
  6. Heat exchanger goes
  7. The repair is just as costly or more then replacing your old equipment… warranties go a long way!

Not all pools were created the same. Swimming pool technology has come a long way in the last decade but you need to make sure your plumping and power can accommodate for todays equipment.  Talk to our experts to see what equipment is best for your system!

Leaking pools can be a source of tremendous stress and frustration for pool owners, not to mention the large expense that comes as a result of lost water, chemicals and heat. Here at Pool Craft, we use state-of-the-art leak detection equipment to accurately locate and repair all types of pool leaks, both inside the pool and out.

“My pool is leaking. What do I do next?”

To provide our customers with the best possible service in finding and fixing leaks, we must determine what type of leak the pool has. Before scheduling your leak detection, we recommend that you perform a simple test called the ‘Bucket Test’, which can possibly save you hundreds in repair costs.

How To Do Your Own ‘Bucket Test’

Step 1

Take an empty bucket or pail and fill it half way up with pool water and place it on the pool deck or stairs if you have them. Mark the water level on the bucket and mark the water level in the pool with a piece of tape or marker. In 24 hours, take a measurement of water loss from the pool and from the bucket. If the water loss is more from the pool then you most likely have a leak. If the water loss is the same in the pool as it is in the bucket, then the pool is most likely okay and the loss in water is due to evaporation.

Step 2

Perform the same test but this time shut off the pool pump. Is the water loss less, more or the same? If the water loss is less with the pump off, then the leak is most likely in the return lines. If the water loss is the same then the leak is most likely inside the pool (liner, main drain, lights).

Step 3

Once you have completed the bucket test you can schedule your leak detection with our office. Please review our leak detection guidelines which explain what we need done before we arrive to perform the leak detection as well as the costs involved in locating and repairing the leak.

Why Should You Use Professional Grade Pool Chemicals?

The primary differences between professional-grade pool chemicals and big-box store products are chemical purity, active ingredient concentration, and the presence of cheap fillers or binders. Bulk stores appear less expensive upfront, their products are often heavily diluted, requiring you to buy and use significantly more volume to achieve the same result.

Liners

FAQS

Below you will find some of our most frequently asked questions.

A saline (saltwater) sanitization system provides on-site production of the sanitizer necessary to maintain water in a safe, healthy and algae-free condition. Sanitizer is produced automatically, within the water itself, and involves no handling, storage or adding of chemicals to the water. A saltwater system, properly sized for its application, will eliminate the need to purchase sanitizing chemicals such as – pool chlorine, algaecides and shock chemicals.

It depends on the type of coping and the age of the liner. If the liner is still pliable you can slightly lower the water level and then use a kettle of hot water or heat gun to heat the liner and carefully stretch the liner back into the track and use a liner lock to hold the liner in the track. Liner lock is available at some pool stores. Note be very careful doing this. I would not attempt this on an older liner.

Tile is placed around the perimeter of the pool because it is a surface that can be easily cleaned. There are many tile cleanser products available which are applied with a scrubbing pad or brush. Remember to never use abrasive cleaners on a vinyl pool. You can also try to frequently clean the inside of the skimmer. You can also use an enzyme product such as Natural Chemistry’s Pool Perfect Klear that eliminates oil, lotions and organics in pool and hot tub water.

Generally it is safe to use your pool after chemicals have dispersed throughout the pool, usually 15 minutes to one hour. If shocking your pool, wait until the chlorine levels drops to recommended levels.

Weekly testing works for most backyard pools, but the best bet is to test your pH and chlorine levels at least twice per week. Chlorine should be fed continuously through a chemical feeding device to maintain a consistent level.
